Well this is sad news for all Xbox Live gamers. The price of a Xbox Live Gold supscription will be increasing on November 1 in US, UK, Canada, and Mexico.

Microsoft’s Major Nelson just announced that a single month will go from $7.99 to $9.99, three months will go from $19.99 to $24.99, and the yearly subscription will go from $49.99 to $59.99.
Xbox Live’s director of programming, Larry Hryb, wrote this in a blog post: “Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We’re confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.”
The price increase has been coming for a while so is not a big surprise. Microsoft have continued to add features so like Netflix streaming, Facebook and Twitter. So the price increase was bound to happen sooner or later.
Will the price increase stop current users of the service from continuing their subscription? It’s hard to imagine many will be put off by the price increase, though it might put off new users. Let us know what you think about the price increase in the comment below.
